My Boulevard of Broken Dreams

I walk alone. I walk alone.
Blowing across the road are thousands of dollar bills representing the scholarship money that would have paid for college, if I would have taken the time to prepare.
To the left of me I see myself as the athlete I was.
To the right of me I see the weak, unhealthy thing I have become.
Tore down, rusted billboards with pictures of my family. If only I would have taken the time to appreciate them.
Up ahead there's the old job of mine I had. Giving it up with good reasoning, but not great.
I could have been farther in life if I would have kept hold of the things I had going for me.
I walk alone. I walk alone.
As I pass I see familiar faces. The peers from high school that I "knew," but didn't really know. Simply because I didn't take the time.
Friends. I hear from a distance as I watch them gossip of those who were less fortunate. But I don't stop them... I didn't stop them.
The road drags on as I weap in tears.
But what I realize, is this is just "My boulevard of broken dreams."
It is simply, a reality check.

I'm Thinking About You...

I'm thinking about you like the Earth thinks about gravity.
Like a permission slip thinks about a signature.
Like records think about Babe Ruth.
I'm thinking about you like B.A.C.A. thinks about children.
Like a college student thinks about money.
Like Shakespeare thinks about poetry.
I'm thinking about you like peanut butter thinks about jelly.
Like nerds think about books.
Like Ali thinks about Roberto.
I'm thinking about you like a sweettooth thinks about sugar.
Like dirty clothes think about laundry detergent.
Like cupid thinks about love.
I'm thinking about you like birds think about music.
Like the birds think about the bees.
I'm thinking about you.

Direct Orders

You are under Direct Orders to rock the freak out.

Rock out like you just got accepted to college.
Rock out like you just switched the tassle on your graduation cap.
Rock out like you were just handed your high school diploma.
Rock out like you just beat that impossible level on Angry Birds.
Rock out like your parents just said yes.
Rock out like you just graduated primary.
Rock out like the know-it-all just got proven wrong.
Rock out like your team just drained a buzzer beater.
Rock out like you just beat AF, once again.
Rock out like the jock of your school just got a little humbled.
Rock out like that annoying girl didn't receive a rose on the Bachelor.
Rock out like he just got down on one knee.
Rock out like you got birthday dessert at Winger's when it wasn't really your birthday.
Rock out like your alarm went off and you thought it was 6:30 but it is really only 4am.
Rock out like you just won the lottery.
Rock out like it's 1985.
Rock out like you just got your mission call.
Rock out like your parents just spilled the "bad news" that they're going out of town.
Rock out like you just found an extra $20 in your pocket.
Rock out like you got back to your phone and you had 20 new texts.

Welcome to My System

I want to write what comes to my mind. As simple as that.
I want my writing to be spontaneous.
Progression, failure, knowledge, weakness that becomes strength.
Friends, schooling, attitude, direction, motivations, dedications and inspirations.
Some posts may be deep and sophisticated, and some will be simply blunt, fun and spontaneous.
I hate complete sentences, so don't count on those.
As well as long sentences.
I enjoy and appreciate this as an assignment because otherwise it wouldn't work.
I will begin to be consistent in something.
I am doing this for a grade...but in the end it will become significant.
